Anna Marie "Jade" Bryan

Jade's Invention from American Inventor Show

41-year-old Ann Marie Bryan is a filmmaker who is deaf. Through her sign
language interpreter, she tells and shows us her invention, which is the
Ready-to-Wear Speaker Gear. It is a vest with speakers that are designed
in a way that deaf people can feel the vibrations of the music coming
from the speaker. They are able to hear the music in their own
way. They demonstrate by playing music in the vest. The judges all come
up and feel the vibrations in the vest. It's a yes.

With the finalists chosen, the judges are ready to deliberate. They get
down to business to narrow down the finalists that they think have the
best ideas.

Of the New York finalists, the judges's top picks are The Claw (Craig
and David), The Wingman (David Mallet), and Ready-to-Wear Speaker Gear
(Ann Marie Bryan). Pat loves The Claw, Sara likes it, and Peter does not
like it. Peter loves The Wingman, Pat does not like it, and George
thinks it's too complicated. They all like the Speaker Gear, but are
concerned about the mass-market appeal of the product. (Of course, they
would say that! - Jade) Ya'll can start writing a letter to the
producers and educate them. That'd help. We need solid
backing statistics of some sort to prove mass-market appeal. I just
should have thought of that during my pitch, the sidekick or blackberry.
No idea how many deaf people own an ipod or something. It's a start...
Hmm...
