The following paragraphs are excerpted from a brochure issued by Gray Line of St. Louis, Inc.
Enjoy this grand old city, founded by Pierre Laclede in 1764 as a French fur-trading village. Today you will see the thriving city it has become. See the "Gateway Arch," this stainless steel structure towers 630 feet into the air and spans 630 feet in width, making it the tallest national monument in the nation. Today you will drive-by such sites as: Laclede's Landing, the historic Soulard district, Union Station, and Forest Park, which was the site of the 1904 World's Fair. Plus much more!
During your tour you will have a choice of a stop at either the St. Louis Gateway Arch or the Anheuser-Busch Brewery - the world's largest producer of beer products. If your choice is a visit to the Arch, you'll have the opportunity to purchase a ticket to ride a 5-passenger tram to the enclosed observation deck at the top. If you prefer, you may choose to stay below and purchase a ticket to view the film, "Monument to the Dream," which chronicles the construction of the Arch. Time is also allowed for you to browse the "Jefferson National Expansion Museum," which is located on the lower level. If your choice is the Anheuser-Busch Brewery, enjoy a guided walking tour through this famous facility and at the end of the tour, you're invited to sample their products.
Midway through your tour, there is a seventy-five minute stop which offers you a choice of a visit at either the Missouri Botanical Gardens or the Missouri History Museum, located in Forest Park. The museum highlights St. Louis history with changing exhibits. During your visit at either facility you may choose to relax and enjoy lunch in their restaurants or browse through their unique gift shops for a memorable souvenir of your visit.
