    CALL FOR INTERPRETERS



    The National Black Deaf Advocates, Inc. (NBDA) Conference Committee is currently seeking qualified interpreters / transliterators to provide American Sign Language interpreting services during its 25th Anniversary Conference in Saint Louis, Missouri. The Conference will be held from July 3rd through the 8th at the Renaissance Grande Hotel.


    Interpreting Services:

    • Platform ~ (Sign - Voice, Voice - Sign)
    • Workshops ~ (Sign - Voice, Voice - Sign, Oral, Close-Vision, Tactile)
    • Youth Empowerment Summit (Y.E.S.) ~ (Sign - Voice, Voice - Sign)
    • Senior Citizen Forum ~ (Sign - Voice, Voice - Sign)
    • Ms. Black Deaf America Pageant ~ (Sign - Voice, Voice - Sign, Oral, Close-Vision, Tactile)
    • 25th Anniversary Banquet ~ (Sign - Voice, Voice - Sign, Oral, Close-Vision, Tactile)

    NBDA is looking for full-time and part-time interpreters / transliterators who are RID and/or NAD certified. They should possess excellent expressive, voicing, and teaming skills. Prospective interpreters / transliterators should also have experience in interpreting at the conference level.

    Selected full-time interpreters will be offered a compensation package including honorarium, transportation allowance, hotel accommodations, and conference fee waiver. Part-time interpreters will be paid an hourly rate and receive a registration fee waiver.

    Individuals who are interested in serving as a Conference Interpreter during the 25th Anniversary of the National Black Deaf Advocates, Inc. should provide the following information before the Monday, April 9th deadline.

    • A letter of interest
    • Your current interpreting vitae
    • A Letter of Support from a deaf or hard of hearing consumer (preferably a member of an NBDA Chapter)
    • 2 Letters of Support from a certified sign language interpreter
