Executive Director of Youth Programs

Purpose of Position

The Executive Director of Youth Programs will be responsible for working at the national level of NBDA in supervising the development of the Youth Empowerment Summit (YES!), the Collegiate Black Deaf Student Leadership Institute (CBDSLI), and the Miss Black Deaf America Pageant (MBDAP). The Executive Director will provide guidance and resource management for the directors of CBDSLI and YES!

The Executive Director of Youth Programs will develop and build relationships with high schools and colleges nationwide, representing NBDA where applicable. This Executive Director will report to the NBDA President, and coordinate with the Director of MBDAP, Director of YES! and the Director of CBDSLI.

Job Description
• Develop a strategic plan for expansion of youth and college leadership for Black Deaf students, enhance mission of supporting education and empowerment for Black Deaf young women

• Report to the NBDA President the strategy of outreach to high schools and colleges in student recruitment, working with YES!, CBDSLI, and MBDAP Directors in developing recruitment

• Supervise the implementation of the YES!, CBDSLI, and MBDAP programs, serving as a resource for the program directors

•  Collaborate with the NBDA Biennial Conference Chair to coordinate the weeklong program and arrangements for youth meetings during conference week

• Collaborate with the NBDA Funds Development Director to apply for funding of student attendees for the YES!, CBDSLI, and MBDAP trainings (such as school sponsorships, educational grants, leadership training scholarships, etc.)

• Collaborate with the NBDA Director of Advocacy for program development and enhancement

Minimum Qualifications
College degree with 3 years of involvement in NBDA at the local and/or national level; Strong commitment to seeing the growth and development of the Black Deaf Community; prior leadership, organizational, networking and interpersonal experience is required; Knowledge and understanding of personal computers, social media, email, Microsoft Word
