Pageant Report by Flo Pratt

The Miss Black Deaf America Pageant took place July 6, 2007 at the Renaissance Grand Hotel. The pageant theme was "Black Deaf Queens in Hollywood"The contestants were April Gardner Miss Chicagoland, Jonelle Thames Miss Detroit, Kimber Holmes Miss Washington, DC, and Adanya Saunders Miss Philadelphia. The pageant consisted of a platform presentation by the contestants, a talent competition, evening gown/onstage interview, and awards presentations.

Entertainment was provided by Aarron Loggins, Fred Beam, and Samuel Franklin. The first runner up was Adanya Saunders, Miss Philadelphia and the second runner-up was April Gardner, Miss Chicagoland. Both ladies also won the Miss Congeniality Award. Jonelle Thames won the best evening gown competition, best talent, best onstage interview, best platform, best private interview. Congratulations, again, to Jonelle Thames of Detroit BDA who is Miss Black Deaf America for 2007-2009
