Miss Black Deaf America

 

 
Flo Pratt She was born in Yaounde, Cameroon in West Africa. She grew up in Paris, France, and graduated from Lycee d'Enseignement Commercial which is a high school in Paris, France. After graduating and moving to New Rochelle, New York to live with her family, she enrolled at LaGuardia Community College where she learned how to sign

In 1996, Florence graduated from Gallaudet University with a Bachelor of Social Work degree and now works at Gallaudet University as a Staff Residential Assistant. She is continuing her education as a graduate student at Gallaudet University where she is in the M.A in International Development Program. She is focusing her studies on people with disabilities and deafness related issues.Currently, Florence Pratt is the Acting President of the District of Columbia Area Black Deaf Advocates Chapter (DCABDA) of NBDA. She also serves NBDA as the Pageant Coordinator. She first became involved with NBDA when she represented DCABDA as "Miss DCABDA" during the NBDA conference in St. Thomas - United States Virgin Islands. She has also held various positions within local chapters of NBDA. She is pleased to be involved with NBDA and finds her association with this organization to be a wonderful experience.
