Dr. Glenn B. Anderson Biography

History

Since its founding in 1982, supporting the academic and career advancement of Black deaf students through educational and employment opportunities has been a major goal of National Black Deaf Advocates (NBDA). Influenced by the self-help philosophy of many advocacy organizations within the hearing Black community (e.g., United Negro College Fund [UNCF], National Black United Federation of Charities [NBUFC], National Association for the Advancement of Colored People [NAACP], and the National Urban League), NBDA announced the establishment of its own scholarship program, the Dr. Glenn B. Anderson Scholarship, at its 30th anniversary celebration in Baltimore, MD during 2012. The scholarship program aims to provide financial support for Black deaf students enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs.
